Think On These Things

Great day, my friend.

Philippians 4:8 was the scripture verse that I meditated on day in and day out decades ago when I was stuck in the rut of majoring in pity parties and the blame game, living on government assistance in a Section 8 apartment. with my two children and an abusive boyfriend.

Through simple scripture verses such as this one and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, my mind was renewed, my heart was broken open and I embraced forgiveness to heal the soul wounds in my heart at the time. The renewing of my mind and the healing of my soul wounds by embracing and demonstrating forgiveness towards myself and those who inflicted physical and emotional abuse on me, empowered me to go from feeling as if I had no power and was doomed to accepting my life as it was, to becoming empowered by Spirit to walk by faith and not by sight and move forward doing what I had the power to do trusting in the leading of Spirit and my renewed relationship with a loving, caring and compassionate God.

No matter how many mistakes I have made since this period in my life, Spirit lovingly reminds me of Philippians 4:8 in order for me to continue to abide in the grace of God and to finish the work that I have been placed on earth to do.

This Is What I Know

What I know for sure is that as we get older, our years of life can often result in an accumulation of emotional baggage, shame, and guilt about what has happened in our lives, what we should have done but didn't do, what we wished we had known so that we could have done better, on and on.

Feelings of shame and guilt block our ability to receive the fullness of God's love, grace, and forgiveness. These feelings impede our ability to turn our hearts towards God and go confidently before the throne of God and pray and trust as Romans 8:39 declares; No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Regardless of the current state of your life, I know the renewing of your mind on a daily basis with scripture that inspires your heart with hope, activates your faith with a commitment to take action, and helps you to see yourself through the loving eyes of God can radically change your outlook on yourself and life. This simple, daily practise has within it the power to usher you into seasons of breakthroughs, and living the abundant life promised in God's word.

It is my prayer that you abide in the power of God's grace and mercy and begin to renew your mind daily with simple scripture verses such as this one so that you will mount up like an eagle and soar to new heights beyond what you can imagine. Peace and Blessings, Jackie B
